Delving into the world of Christmas card memories is like diving into a box of ornaments—each one a snapshot of joy, laughter, and sometimes a little chaos. These cards are more than just glossy paper with smiling faces; they’re tiny time capsules, preserving the magic of past holidays and the evolution of our family. Join me as we unwrap our recent Christmas card history, giggle at our misadventures, and celebrate the little moments that make this season so special. And hey, don’t forget to share your own Christmas card stories with us!
2021: JCPenney Shenanigans in Festive Attire
Ah, 2021—the year of over-the-top Christmas outfits and way too much laughter. Darron and I hit up JCPenney for a photo session that was equal parts silly and sentimental. Decked out in our most ridiculous festive garb (think sweaters that jingled and socks that lit up), we let the spirit of the season take over. Those photos didn’t just make for a great Christmas card; they were a reminder to not take life too seriously and always make time for joy…and matching hats.
2022: A Wonderland at Tree Farm with Dylan, Our Furry Companion
Fast forward to 2022, and our family expanded by four paws. Enter Dylan, our adorable (and slightly mischievous) pup. We ventured to Wonderland Tree Farm in Pea Ridge, AR, where the scent of fresh pine and the charm of the season set the perfect backdrop. Dylan’s debut on our Christmas card was a hit, as he wagged his way into the hearts of everyone who received it. The photos captured our love for the outdoors, our goofy dog, and the beginning of a cherished family tradition.
2023: Growing Love at Wonderland Tree Farm
In 2023, we revisited Wonderland Tree Farm with a very special addition—our baby boy-to-be. Partnering with the talented Allison Winkle Photography, we celebrated the season with Darron, Dylan, and a very prominent baby bump. Those photos were more than just a card; they were a celebration of anticipation, love, and the promise of the year ahead. It was a magical moment that blended old traditions with the excitement of new beginnings.
2024: Santa, Tears, and a Whole Lot of Love
And here we are in 2024, with our baby boy Dawson in tow! This year’s photoshoot included a milestone moment—Dawson’s first meeting with Santa. Spoiler alert: it was equal parts adorable and tearful. While Dawson gave Santa the side-eye and shed a few crocodile tears, he managed to charm the entire set with his giggles shortly after. The photos captured the essence of the season: a little bit of chaos, a lot of love, and memories we’ll treasure forever. Our Christmas card this year {although not sent out yet} a celebration of how far we’ve come, with our sweet little family growing and thriving.
Why Christmas Cards Matter
Christmas cards aren’t just a way to spread holiday cheer; they’re a window into our lives, a way to document the growth, love, and hilarity that unfold year after year. From the goofy antics of 2021 to the tender moments with Dylan, the anticipation of 2023, and now Dawson’s teary-eyed Santa debut, each card tells a story worth sharing.
So, here’s to the memories, the laughs, and the occasional tears that make these moments so special. We’d love to hear about your own Christmas card adventures! Did your kids cry meeting Santa? Did your dog knock over the Christmas tree during the photoshoot? Let us know in the comments and join us on this journey of celebrating love, laughter, and the beauty of family.
